John Flood DVM
John received his BS from Colorado State University and his DVM from Ontario Veterinary College in 1977. He has practiced small animal medicine in England, Canada, and the U.S.. In 1989-1990 he took a sabbatical from practice to do a residency in small animal surgery with Massey University, Palmerston No. New Zealand. While there he earned membership in the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery. The past eight years he has practiced in Acton, Maine.

Dr. Catherine Sanders DVM
Dr. Sanders received her DVM from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She has practiced both large and small animal medicine in Maine. Her professional goals are centered around fostering the human-animal bond. She attains these goals through her devotion to veterinary medicine, the development of trust and by honoring animals as the venerable creatures they are. Catherine owns a 70 acre farm in the Moosehead Lake region where these is more fly fishing than a person could ask for. Catherine and her partner have a daughter, Elizabeth.

Amy Kretz - Clinic Manager
Amy Kretz grew up in Vermont and came to Maine to attend USM. She earned a BS in social work in 1992 and worked in that field for several years. In 1997 she moved to Portland, Oregon and worked for the Oregon Humane Society until 1999. Being a New England girl she returned to Maine to become the manager of the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook. In August 2000, she joined the staff at Brackett Street Veterinary Clinic. She lives in Westbrook with her husband Chicky, son Reuben, 3 dogs (Billie, Chicken, and Pickle), and cat (Buckethead).

Teresa Perry LVT - Head Veterinary Technician
Teresa is a native of New Hampshire and received her degree in Veterinary Technology in 1997 from the New Hampshire Community Technical College in Stratham. Shortly after graduating she became a licensed technician and the first employee of the Brackett Street Veterinary Clinic. Teresa truly enjoys her work with all the animals she encounters at the clinic. She lives in Waterboro, Maine with her husband, her daughter, seven cats, a dog and a rabbit.

Shawna Nowinski LVT
Shawna is a native of southern Maine and currently resides in Portland with her 2 cats. She graduated in 2003 from the University of Maine at Orono with her Bachelors degree in Psychology, then graduated again a year later with her Associates in Veterinary Technology from the University of Maine at Augusta. She has been working as a technician since 2002, and spent her first two years practicing at a hospital in Bar Harbor, ME. She also spent a summer working at the Marine Animal Lifeline in Westbrook, ME. When shes not at the clinic her favorite past times include singing karaoke, shopping and dining out.

Amy Sprague, Veterinary Technician
Amy worked at a feline exclusive practice for 3 years before coming to Brackett Street Veterinary Clinic. She started out as an assistant after completing a diploma course in veterinary assisting and worked up the ranks to surgical technician after 2 years of training. Her favorite thing to do at the clinic is dentals. Amy did an apprenticeship for grooming in Reno, NV and now has 9 years of grooming experience. She owns a pet sitting and mobile grooming business in the greater Portland area. She lives in Westbrook with her son Hunter, 3 cats, 2 dogs and a ferret.

Jodi Raymond, Head Receptionist
Jodi left the corporate world after 12 years to come to Brackett Street Veterinary Clinic and do what she loves most, work with animals and their people. She received her bachelor's degree in economics and psychology from the University of Connecticut, Storrs and speaks fluent Spanish. She enjoys spending her vacations and spare time working at various animal shelters and sanctuaries around the US. She has a pet sitting business and hopes to one day offer behavior classes and rehabilitation services for dogs, cats and birds. One of her dreams is to travel to various islands and countries to do spay/neuter education and services. She lives in Westbrook with her partner Jeff, 3 dogs, a parrot, 2 guinea pigs, 1 cat and 1 rat.

Melissa Walker - Veterinary Assistant
Melissa Walker worked her way through high school and college as a Veterinary Technician and after a 30 year lapse has returned to the field. Melissa is a recently retired police officer who, in addition to being receptionist at Brackett Street, teaches Criminal Justice at Southern Maine Community College. She lives in Portland with her 3 cats and 1 dog and enjoys playing the flute and singing in a women's chorus.

Virginia Flood
Virginia has grown up around veterinary clinics helping her dad from an early age. She is currently a biochemistry major at the University of Maine where she plays lacrosse. She loves all types of animals, but close to her heart are Pugs, Boston Terriers and a dog named Nova.
