Veterinary Care for the Island Communities of Casco Bay
Dr Flood, aboard the trawler “Rita Joan,” provides veterinary service to the islands of Casco Bay.
Appointments are held on board at public docks. House calls are also available. The boat has a small lab and is equipped to perform minor surgeries. Care for small ruminants is also available.

If more in-depth service is needed, we can provide it on the mainland at our Brackett St. clinic in Portland.
Island Veterinary Service operates by appointment on selected weekdays and Saturdays. We operate twice weekly in the summer and about twice monthly in the winter. If you need IVS services when the boat is not scheduled to go out, please call for a phone consult to determine whether or not your pet should be seen.
